Here are the twelve first observational drawings i've made. Some loss in detail and quality due to scanning compressing
Here are some other observatioal drawings I did with my tablet
The last part of the storytelling and cinematography projects were to create a 3D Pre-Visualisation, from the same treatment, storyboard and animatic that I've posted earlier.
The first thing we did were to deside which shots we should make, and then split the shots between us.
Morten did the modeling of the kitchen and Anders made the most of the outdoor scene, allthough the whole group contributed to everything, and gave tips to help eachother.
I made shot 2.2 and 2.11, and I'm pretty pleased with the results. We decided to give the character a hat so it would be easier to see that it's the same character.
We rendered the all the shots in v-ray, since it was easy to set up a fast and good looking render.
Also this time I did the stuff that had to be done in AfterFX, like adding sounds, and cutting the shots together, while Anders and Morten sat next to me and helping me with taking different decisions.
Here you can see the final previz:
I've noticed that a lot of the other groups made shots that are supposed to be after eachother in the final movie.
We didn't do it like that, but rather chose the shots we thought had the best compositions and would be the most fun to
If we had more time I would like to make more scenes and shots, since I think the ones we have now looks pretty great.

The next thing we had to do after making the storyboard was to make an animatic, which is sort of an animated version of the storyboard.
My main task here were to take care of the tecnical bit, since I have the most experience in AfterFX.
So I took all the images from the storyboard and placed them in AfterFX, while Morten and Anders gathered the sounds we needed.
Then the whole group sat around my computer, discussing how long each shot should be.
I've made the tranistions and between the shots, and added som camera movements in some shots.
After we first thought we were done we realised that in some of the shots it were difficult to understand what were happening, so we draw in som arrows to show the movements of the characters.
So here you can see the final result
If we had more time to work on the animatic, I would added more movement to the cameras, and also animated the characters and assets, instead of just having arrows pointing in the direction of the motion.
But overall, I'm pretty happy about our result.
First we got put together in random groups of 4.
So we had to work individually with our treatment, and at the same time in groups to create a storyboard, and later an animatic and 3d previs.
I got put in group with Morten, Kenneth and Anders, and I think it was a good combination.
The first couple hours we sat down and discussed the different treatments to decide which one we wanted to make a storyboard to.
After a while we decided to go for Anders’ treatment, since it had a simple story and followed the three-act-structure. All of us also thought it would be funnier and easier to draw a storyboard to this treatment, than to the others.
Here are Anders’ treatment:
We talked about the treatment and changed it a bit.
Then we sat down drawing some sketches of the main characters and a overview of the house.
While the other groupmembers were drawing I collected som pictures for inspiration, and I think it helped the group with drawing in the same style.
After this were done we sat down with a program called celltex and wrote down what should happen in each shot, and also different camera angles.
This helped us a lot when we drew a quick sketch of the storyboard.
When the sketch were done we decided who should draw wich frames, before we split up and started drawing.
I think this approach worked pretty well, and the only negative thing about doing it this way is that you can see different drawing styles on different parts of the storyboard.
When all the drawings were done, we re-draw the drawings that could have a better compositions, since a lot of our drawing had much empty space.
Then we started working on the animatic that has deadline in a couple of weeks.
Since I has the most experience in AfterFX I did all the animatic on my computer and the rest of the group sat behind me and helping me with the timing and deciding camera actions and tranitions.
Kenneth coloured the santa’s hat red in all the pictures so it would be easier to look at what you need to see.
Then we started with putting the storyboard together and write down what were happening in each shot, important souns, camera shots and movements, and transitions.
We use a lot of wide/total shots, since there are a lot of big movments in most of the scenes.
A couple other shot-types I think worked very well are the Over-the-shoulder shot where it seems like the cat is defeating the santa. And the opening and ending shots, which are establishing-shots.
I’m pretty happy about our final result. The whole group worked pretty well together.
For the animatic there is a few things I want to change. First of all I want to add a few more shots, so it will be easier to understand whats happening. I also want to clean up my drawings a bit, and make them similar to the other groupmembers drawings.
During this project we were going to write a Treatment for a shortmovie.
When the project started I were completly blank, I had no idea at all, so I sat down and made a mindmap, I watch a ton of youtube videos and read on a lot of forums for inspiration and ideas.
After a day or two I had an Idea that I liked very much. It was about a young man who lived in a gray world and comunicated all his feelings trough colors that appeard where he walked.
I sat down and started to write, but after an hour I realised that it would be hard to follow the three act story structure, beacouse my Idea didn't actully hava a story, it was more of a simple movie.
So I scratched that Idea and now I had really little time to get it done, so I just started writing whatever words that poped up in my mind, and when I read this nonsens later I got a new Idea that I thought could be pretty cool after som work.
So then I wrote my treatment for the first time, read it trough, changed a bit.
I let my family read it to give me critisism, and I changed it even more.
Then I posted it on the forum and got a few very good tips to rewrite my treatment one last time before deadline.
So after all I'm pretty happy with the result, but of course there is a lot of things that could be done better or added. If I had more time I would add camera shots, important sounds and transitions. And maybe try to shortening the treatment a bit more.
But anyways, here it is:
Late one January night, lonely watching TV in a tiny city apartment, MATT, 22 years old, sits alone, anxiously.
He wants to go out and meet people and get real friends but he is extremely shy, and doesn’t dare to start a conversation. Matt can’t even look at a girl without blushing, and the few times a girl has tried to talk to him it has always ended in catastrophe, and Matt running back to his apartment.
The last time this happened was by his mailbox. Matt was standing just in front of his mailbox fiddling with the keys, trying to get it open before someone tried to talk to him.
Then on the other side of the street he saw the prettiest girl he had ever seen, and she was walking towards him. So Matt got even more stressed, and the girl came closer and closer. Matt didn’t dare to look for her again but he knew she was coming closer. Suddenly she asks if he needs help to get open the mailbox. Matt didn’t react and just stood there trying to get out his mail.
So the girl touches him on his shoulder and asks again, Matt flinches and drops the keys and runs straight in to his apartment, locks the door and sits down with his back to the door. The only thing he hears is his own heartbeats. Suddenly his keys come sliding under the door.
After this happened Matt always scout out his window before he walks out, and if he meets anyone on his way out he runs straight back inside.
Matt really wanted to have a normal life, like the people he saw on TV. He could sit for hours watching TV and dreaming of how it would be like to have friends and maybe even a girlfriend.
Then one regular day Matt falls to sleep in front of his TV, and as usual he’s dreaming about having friends. Suddenly he wakes up to a commercial he has never seen before. The commercial were for a ring that would make you extremely confident. Matt thought this would be perfect for him, and then he would dare to talk to people and get real friends.
So he called the number on the screen an ordered a ring. Just when he pushed the end call button a small box came through his mail hatch on the door.
He opened the box and inside he found the ring he had ordered.
He puts on the ring and right away he feels secure on himself. He decides to put the ring to a test and walks confident out of his safe little apartment.
He walks down the street where he lives and when he passes a bus stop he overhear a couple of people talking about a movie. Matt jumps straight in the conversation, he has seen this movie many, many times so he gets all the attention, and the guys thinks he is a really cool guy and the exchange phone numbers. Then the guys bus comes and the walk on, and out comes the pretty girl he ran away from last time. He smiles to the girl, she smiles back. He walks over to her and presents himself and excuses himself for the awkwardness from last time. She laughs and says it’s okay. Matt looks at her beautiful body, and spots a ring on the finger, it’s the same kind of ring he has. He shows her his hand and realizes that he has lost the ring. He starts to blush and wants to run away, but then he realizes that he had left the ring on his nightstand, and that he had been talking to these people without any help from any magic rings or anything like that. He now understood that all it would take of him to get real friends were to be himself and don’t be afraid of getting turned down or laughed at. So he tells the girl all about the ring, and the problems he had before. She looked at her hand and took the ring of. After a few weeks they were a couple.
